I love photographing this age. At (almost) six months old, Mia was alert and taking in her surroundings. It’s a far cry from my usual newborn photoshoots with two week old babies. It’s amazing how much their personality develops in just a few months!
I shot this on a single roll of Portra 800. One roll sessions are a perfect amount to capture a snippet into family life. During digital sessions I easily take 800+ images. It never ceases to amaze me how taking 36 frames doesn’t feel like a small number. Perhaps that’s down to my intentionality for each shot: setting it up, focussing, re-focussing when someone moves and waiting for the right moment to press the shutter.
I love Canberra’s enthusiasm for film photography. I hope that more families opt for this medium as it brings me so much joy! And just look at the results! I think the colours encapsulate the feeling of hot Australian summer in the garden.
